So, instead of fixing the bridge they’ve installed some chain link to catch the chunks that fall off so that they don’t hit the light rail trains. At least they repaved it this year so you don’t feel like you’re driving through a minefield.
Just another day in the rust belt...

This is a highway on-ramp near me. It began to crumble, and they just added temporary barricades and declared it fine till they decide to fix it later. It was supposed to be started by now but hasn’t been.
One section that fell hit a car. They simply broke off more so if more falls it shouldn’t land in the roadway.

I live less than a mile from this . I’m so used to it at this point I hardly give it any thought as I drive over it . The state is really dragging their feet on fixing it. I swear if this was in the suburbs it would have been fixed by now. Super annoying.

They were still getting people taking the piss out of them long after this.

How does a bridge sustain any form of damage on that side.
I’d expect it on that side of the bridge but on the other carriageway.

The bridge actually has a slope towards that side. The damaged side of the bridge is lower than the side traffic enters from.
A truck carrying a tall load managed to fit under the start of the bridge and hit the supports on the far side.

I used to live a couple miles from there. I still go through that area every week or so.
